Inspired by years of vivid dreams and dream journals, Kalandra's new album explores the fragile boundary between sleep and waking. Moving through warm, ethereal soundscapes and unsettling nightmares, the record invites listeners on a journey into the subconscious.

Following a series of vivid and recurring dreams over the past few years, vocalist and songwriter Katrine Stenbekk, together with bandmate Jogeir Daae Mæland, began exploring the world of dream analysis. Keeping a notebook by the bed, they started writing down fragments of dreams the moment they woke. Those scattered images, emotions, and subconscious narratives gradually became the foundation for a new collection of songs.

Written over the course of just three months, and arranged and produced by the full band in the two months that followed, the album emerged during one of the most focused creative periods in Kalandra's history.

The music drifts through warm, dreamlike landscapes where distant voices seem to lull the listener to sleep, before slipping into surreal passages that blur the line between dreams and nightmares. Throughout the album, Kalandra explores the mysterious imagery of the subconscious—where memories, fears, and imagination quietly intertwine.

Ironically, the band had promised themselves they would never make another album as quickly as A Frame of Mind (2024). But as we know, life happens…

After being forced to leave their longtime studio due to a full refurbishing of the building, the band spent six months designing and building a new fully soundproof studio in Oslo. By the time the final wall was in place, there was little time left before the self-imposed deadline. Rather than becoming an obstacle, the circumstances created an unusual sense of urgency and focus, allowing the songs to arrive without too much second guessing.

It is, perhaps, the fastest album Kalandra has ever created—but also one that feels remarkably honest, deeply personal and cohesive.
